To do this using a wired only connection:
There is an ethernet(internet) cable coming out of your modem (where the cable/phone line is converted to an internet cable). This cable is goes to the WAN/Internet port on your Netgear Router. Next run another ethernet cable from Port 1 on the router to the ethernet port on the back of your computer.
I hope this was what you were looking for and helps get you going.
Assuming you have a wireless card,
-Go to Network Connections in the control panel
-Right click on the wireless cards icon and choose Wireless Networks
-Then choose the SSID that matches your router (check routers sticker)
-When it ask for password put the WEP # also on the routers sticker.
This is assuming you havent changed the SSID or the password from the default settings already.
Well, first you will connect your laptop to your wireless router to configure it. How you do that is – taking the network cable and plug one end to the network port on your laptop. Take the other end and plug it to the network port on the wireless router. Follow the instructions that comes along with the wireless router – it should point you to open the browser and navigate to a particular web addresss (localhost usually) and from there you will be able to manage and configure your wireless router. Once you’re done, connect the wireless router to the internet and using your laptop, detect and connect to the connection that you have made when you configured the router. Be sure to using some type of encryption and a password.
