How do I reset my wireless password on my Netgear modem?
I have a Netgear modem (NETGEAR RANGEMAX WIRELESS ROUTER WPN824)
I refreshed a computer in my house resently but i have forgotten the log on password to my network. How can i reset this? The password is a Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) 64-bit,128-bit encryption sort of thing.
thanks
you need to connect to your router > login (if needed) > navigate to Wireless Settings > change the network password
I get to my router by typing 192.168.0.1 in the Address Bar in my internet explorer… your numbers might be a little different
go to your router find the rest button in the back u gotta press it with like a pen usually press it, wait like 20 seconds for it to reboot, unplug the power source to your modem and your router, plug the modem power back in, then wait like 20 seconds and plug the router power back in.
if you don’t have a computer directly plugged into the router via Ethernet cable, plug your laptop in or use ur any computer plugged directly into the router
then go to
start -> run
type in “cmd” w/o quotes
then type in “netstat -n” w/o quotes
a list of IP’s ur connected to is going to pop up, one is going to go 192.168.x.x find that one it usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
open up internet explorer type in http://192.168 ect w/e the address was in the command prompt window, its going to ask you for the user name and pass to get into your router, it usually like admin and the password is password, but if you dont know just google netgear router default password, type that password in then your into the router setup, then set up your wireless and set up a new WEP
in ur Wireless Router u have to find
“small hole with little button” push it and ur router will restart every setting and password
read negrear manual plz
Take a look at the back of the router and you should find a small hole – inside is a switch. Poke it with a pen or something sharp and hold it down for about 10 seconds and that will reset everything back to default. Look for a label on the bottom of your router for info. Usually the default user name is admin and the default password is password. You will need to set a new SSID and use a passpahrase to generate a new WEP key. Access your router from your browser type in http://192.168.0.1 If you get stuck find my email address on my website and email me. It’s a button at the bottom of each page.
access the control page(a.k.a. setup page, its like a website) of you netgear router.
you should find a tab or portion for the wireless settings
under WEP key(usually WEP KEY 1)
erase the 10 or 26 digit code
replace it with a 10 or 26 digit code that you prefer.
save the settings.
note: once you successfully save the settings, you need to reconfigure your wireless computer’s wi-fi settings by using the new WEP key to connect to the wireless network
